There are three kinds of people in this world.
1. Those who make things happen,
2. Those who watch things happen., and
3. Those who do not know what is happening.
When a person is saved, he is saved not just to sit in a church’s pew every Sunday and go out of church doing nothing for God every day. But rather, he is called by God to do good works. Ephesians 2: 10 states, “For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works….”
The greatest work that we can get involved with is soul winning. Jesus in His earthly ministry devoted most of his life in winning souls and discipling men. He said:
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” -(John 9:4)
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Christ’s disciple testified about how He spent his life:
“And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach” (Mark 3:13-14)
There is a battle going on in the world today. It is a battle for souls between light and darkness. The most challenging task is soul winning. It is challenging because the work that the Lord has given us is conquering the hearts, minds, and soul of men for Jesus and He has assured us of victory.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”
(2 Corinthians 10:5)
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
(Romans 8:37)
A conqueror who does not strive to conquer will find no joy in his life. Paul said that we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. The challenge of winning souls for Jesus is that we allow Him to use us as His instruments in reaching others. If by our own strength and ability, we are so helpless and weak. But when we yield our lives to Him, He mightily works in and through our lives, making our lives meaningful and purposeful.
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
(Philippians 1:21)
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
(Galatians 2:20)
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
(1 John 4:4)
Many Christians spend a lot of their time in games which rewards are all imaginary and not real. Many people find joy in a competition when they have beaten some, and they come out to be the winner. But the crown they get is not worthy to be compared to the glory and crowns that Christ will give.
“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”
(1 Corinthians 9:25)
So many Christians do not have time for God’s work and cannot involve in soul winning because they are so busy with the world trying to plant and harvest that which they cannot bring when they die. But the Lord is showing us the real challenge:
“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
(Matthew 9:37-38)
REAL PLANTING, AND REAL HARVESTING, AND THE REWARDS ARE ETERNAL!
There is a great challenge to get involve in soul winning, harvesting of souls, and church planting. The rewards are great, in this lifetime and in Christ’s coming. There is great joy in soul winning.
“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him”. (Psalms 126:5-6)
May I challenge you and may God use you.
